5 Places to Eat in Amsterdam
Oh, Amsterdam. What a city you are.... one that I happened to love even more the second time around. You know when you just click with a city? If I ever were to relocate, Amsterdam would definitely be one of my top options. The place just gets me.
This time around, I was lucky enough to spend a few days exploring what the city had to offer. Along with ticking off all the touristy spots, I also had time to relax and check out a few local recommendations.
One thing I love to discover about a city is the best foodie spots, whether it be cafes, take-away shops or restaurants! I know I already shared a few in my Amsterdam travel guide, but I wanted to do a more in-depth post to highlight some other favourites that you guys might love.
From desserts, to brunch and one-of-a-kind dinners, here's a 5 places I would highly recommend everyone adding to their Amsterdam itinerary!

1.Ice bakery by Nutella
Ice Bakery is a Nutella-owned bakery which you will find all over the city. They serve everything from waffles, ice cream, frozen yogurt, milkshakes, donuts, macarons, cookies & really any kind of dessert all packed with nutella. Oh, and you can also buy 3kg tubs of nutella. It really is a dream. I feel like it should be necessary to have one of these in each country?The only downside is that it's quite touristy and some may say overpriced, but I feel like it would be wrong to visit Amsterdam and not try something from here! I recommend the ice cream and waffles, or perhaps waffle in an icecream? Go crazy, you are in a NUTELLA BAKERY after all.[/column][column]

2.Bakers and Roosters
If I were to ever open a cafe, the menu would look something like that of this place. It is unreal. The interiors are so bright, fresh and beautiful that you'll never want to leave. Plus, any place that serves acai bowls is already in my good books, and this place makes a damn good one at that.Bakers & Roasters is a New Zealand style café served with a heavy dose of Brazil. The kitchen produces everything from fruit salads, old school milkshakes, fresh pressed juices, brunch cocktails, salad bowls and so on. You can take a look at the full menu here – it's pretty incredible.There are currently two locations in Amsterdam where you can find Bakers & Roosters, and if you're looking for somewhere to brunch, I could not recommend this place enough! It's loved by tourists as well as many locals.

3.De Kas
If you're looking for a break from all the waffles, fries and cheese, De Kas might just be for you. It's a restaurant and nursery set in a stunning garden conservatory serving Mediterrenean dishes. The interiors are dreamy – bright and modern. It's formal but with a relaxed feel.I love this place because everything served is made from the organic ingredients grown on-site! How cool is that? The meals are extremely fresh, and the menu changes weekly depending on the vegetables and fruit in season. It's about 20 minutes out of the city, so I would probably suggest booking an Uber! A booking is definitely required as this place is quite popular.

4.The Pancake Bakery
The Pancake Bakery is built in a cosy pancake house located in a 17th-century Dutch East India Company canal house at the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. It is another much loved spot that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They serve both sweet and savoury pancakes that are both incredible – and that's coming from someone with a massive sweet tooth.These pancakes aren't like normal pancakes though, they are huge! Don't underestimate it for a dessert because it is most certainly a meal. What's better (and slightly dangerous) is that each table has it's own POT of maple syrup so you can be as generous as you'd like.I have to say though, the caramel, cinnamon and chocolate pancakes are really something else. If you're going in a group, make sure everyone gets something different so you get a chance to try more flavours! I've yet to find one that disappoints.

5.Foodhallen
Foodhallen is an indoor food market that's built in a renovated historic tram depot, essentially a big warehouse loft, and is the perfect place for foodies! During summer, it becomes a popular spot to chill, sample international delights (everything from Australian meat pies to Vietnamese bánh mì, & of course Dutch specialties), and surround yourself with good company. It's sort of a cross between a food court, bar and socialising space. It's a very casual and relaxed space and the perfect place to grab a bite and drink during a catch up or before an event. Just be warned it does get VERY busy after 6pm on weekdays, and on weekends, well, you might just have to take your chances. Either way, I still think it's a must-see on your visit!
